Petri Pasanen and Leon-Aderemi Balogun banged heads in the Green-Whites' final training ahead of the away match in Cologne with the Finn Pasanen suffering a laceration. Both players needed to be treated with head coach Thomas Schaaf stopping the training session a few minutes earlier than planned due to the collision.

The fact that two defenders collided could not have pleased Schaaf as the Green-Whites are already without the suspended centre back Sebastian Prödl and injured Dominik Schmidt (muscle tear). "But we have always had someone we can throw back there," said Clemens Fritz relaxed looking forward to the 19th game day. "Of course we will miss the quality of a Sebastian Prödl, but we still have other players like Petri Pasanen who are candidates for the defence," said Schaaf at the Thursday press conference. The coach said he will have to wait and see until after the session if Pasanen is even questionable for the game in Cologne.

While captain Torsten Frings completed his second team training without a problem following his short break on Wednesday, Daniel Jensen (knee problems) and Tim Borowski (ankle problems) still were missing from training and are not in Bremen's squad for Saturday.
These 18 players are on the game roster for the away match in Cologne: Wiese, Pasanen, Arnautovic, Fritz, Avdic, Marin, Hunt, Silvestre, Husejinovic, Kroos, Wagner, Mielitz, Frings, Pizarro, Mertesacker, Balogun, Bargfrede, Ayik.
