SV Werder have won four games this season bythe final score 1-0. While Mehmet Ekici and Santiago Garcia both scored the goal in one of those victories, Zlatko Junuzovic twice gave the Green-Whites the win with the sole goal - and that in two important matches.
The 26-year-old midfielder scored the crucial sole goal in the first match of the season against Eintracht Braunschweig and in the 100th North Derby against Hamburg. ‘Juno' relieved the Werder fans in the 82nd minute against Braunschweig and then scored in the 19th minute against the arch rivals. Even though scoring goals is not that important for him, Junuzovic is still happy about every goal he tallies. "Of course I am very happy about the goals, especially because they end up in a victory. Those are always special moments in football. But in actuality I don't care who scores the goals. The only thing that's important is to help my teammates up front and in the back," said the 40-time Austrian international.
Junuzovic will likely be a big part of Werder's chances of winning at home this Saturday against Hertha Berlin. He returned to training Tuesday after sitting out Monday's session. "Everyone is happy about the last home match of the season. Of course we want to finish on a positive note against Hertha. So we are preparing accordingly for the match in training. The mood is good. And we hope to head into the game that way too," said Junuzovic.
It remains unclear if Ludovic Obraniak will be available this weekend to bid farewell into the summer break to the Werder fans. The Polish international continues to deal with a calf problem. "I still have minor pain and had another rehab program today. Before I come back to training, I want to be completely pain-free so that I don't miss an extended period of time. Still, I think that I could be back in the coming days," said Obraniak. He may miss the Hertha match just like possibly Cedrick Makiadi, who sat out of team training with Patella tendon inflammation.
