Zlatko Junuzovic's facial expression and his body language did not really fit together on Sunday. Even though the Austrian was limping on his way out of the changing rooms at Weser Stadium, he had a big grin on his face. Inside, the midfielder was very satisfied and still thrilled about Werder's convincing 4-1 win over VfB Stuttgart. But physically, one could tell he was beat up.
Junuzovic was rested during mid-week duty with the Austrian national team due to thigh muscle problems. But the pain showed itself again after the match against Stuttgart. "The muscle is totally locked up and really hurts. But I already had some treatment and will continue that the next couple days. Then it will get better quickly," said the 25-year-old Sunday afternoon.
Junuzovic described his plan with a smile on his face: "I want to get back into team training on Wednesday and be fit in time for the home match against Freiburg." Apparently the happiness about the important away victory was bigger than the pain.
