Werder players finished off their first work day at the training camp in Jerez de la Frontera with an intensive training session in the Spanish afternoon sun. The first impression was good, not just because of the friendly weather and comfortable temperatures of around 20 degrees. "It is nearly perfect here at first glance. We don't want to praise things too early, but we had one meal which was good, the grounds are in a very good condition and the guys really want to play football," said head coach Robin Dutt, whose only issue right now is the players who are not available to him. "Of course that bothers me but I hope that over the course of the training camp players will come back."
One possible candidate for that could be Felix Kroos, who completed some parts of team training Wednesday following his left knee ligament injury. "He was partially active today. I hope that he can return in full soon," said Dutt. "It was tough, but it did good because I could already do so many things. I am satisfied and hope that it keeps going like this," said Kroos. Zlatko Junuzovic, Clemens Fritz and Lukas Schmitz meanwhile remained in the team's hotel and worked individually on their returns. "Lukas will be back in the next one or two days, with the others we'll have to wait and see," said the Bremen coach, who wants to focus most of the work in Jerez on defence.
"We will present the analysis to the team tonight. But nobody should be surprised that we want to continue to work on the defence. Still, we have made some adjustments after the first half. But we also want to continue to improve our offensive players," said Dutt. The next training will take place Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
