Levent Aycicek will celebrate his comeback after an eight-month injury break in Jena. Thomas Schaaf nominated Werder's youth talent for the first test match following the 2011-12 Bundesliga season against Carl Zeiss Jena. The 18-year-old suffered a major knee injury last September and has practiced with Werder's professional team for the past two weeks.
Claudio Pizarro, Naldo and Sebastian Prödl meanwhile will not travel with the team to Jena. Prödl is dealing with the flu and Pizarro has a pelvic problem. But the Green-Whites will have the services of Tim Borowski and Markus Rosenberg, who will be leaving the club at season's end.
Schaaf nominated the following players for the test match in Jen on Wednesday 9 May 2012 at 6:30 p.m.: Mielitz, Vander, Arnautovic, Fritz, Rosenberg, Borowski, Hunt, Schmitz, Avdic, Trybull, Ignjovski, Trinks, Affolter, Aleksandar Stevanovic, Aycicek, Thy, Hartherz.
