Andreas Wolf is one of two former Nuremberg players on Werder's team but the only one who has not officially been given a farewell from the club. Nuremberg would like to make good on that on Saturday. Shortly before the end of the final training Friday afternoon, we talked to the 29-year-old Wolf.
Andi, Friday afternoon you will be flying with the team to Nuremberg. It will not be just a match for you but a real farewell. Has the club talked to you about that ahead of time?
Andreas Wolf: I read that but don't know about everything. They wanted to surprise me with some things. And I am really happy about that. I spent 14 very nice years there. Unfortunately we didn't have a chance from both sides to bid farewell.
You are pretty important as the team even changed the normal schedule ahead of a Bundesliga match. The teams will be leaving the changing room ahead of time for your farewell.
Andreas Wolf: Oh, I definitely didn't know that. I am looking forward to this.
So, this game is something special for you?
Andreas Wolf: Yeah, it is a very special game. We have had a good start with Werder and would like to continue to collect points. That's the only thing that counts when the game is kicked off.
So it won't be a problem to score your first two Bundesliga goals in Werder dress in Nuremberg?
Andreas Wolf: Well, let's take things slowly. It will be hard enough to win there. But I don't have anything against contributing a goal. Werder is the only thing that counts. Then I will score three goals if it has to be. But I will not celebrate out of respect.
