The preparations for the new Bundesliga season will start for the Werder players in 10 days. New acquisition Alejandro Galvez will also be on hand. Until then, "Alex" will be enjoying the last days of his holidays at home in Spain and also planning his move to Bremen. He took some time for a Skype interview with WERDER.DE.

WERDER.DE: Alejandro, your transfer to SV Werder had been discussed for a long time but was still up in the air. When was it clear for you that you would be moving to Werder?
Alejandro Galvez: "The first contact came before Christmas 2013. Werder were very interested in me, the talks were very nice. It seemed back then like I would transfer to Germany. But it wasn't a sure thing until Rayo Vallecano were secure to stay in the first division."

WERDER.DE: You are recognised in the public as a centre back. At which position do you see your biggest strength?
Alejandro Galvez: "I used to play a bit of defensive midfield as well. But now I am primarily in the middle of the defence. I also feel the best there and have my biggest strengths."

WERDER.DE: In nearly two weeks, training starts in Bremen. When will you move to Bremen?
Alejandro Galvez: "I will come to Bremen on June 24 with my sister. At the beginning I will stay in a hotel. Then I will look around in Bremen for an apartment for me and my girlfriend, who will follow soon."

WERDER.DE: How much are you looking forward to Werder?
Alejandro Galvez: "I am very happy about coming to Bremen soon and getting to know my new teammates. I am looking forward to the Bundesliga. I am very much looking forward to Werder Bremen."

WERDER.DE: You will be leaving your homeland for the first time. What feelings will you have?
Alejandro Galvez: "First off, it's not that bad. I am just really looking forward to my new job, to a new country, to new people and to a new language. I think I can be very happy in Bremen. Of course I will miss my family. But I am looking forward to coming to Werder."

WERDER.DE: The World Cup is a week in. Are you following the tournament and how will Spain do?
Alejandro Galvez: "I watched the first games with my friends and family in Granada. Despite losing to the Netherlands, I hope that Spain will still have a good tournament, advance far and win the title again in the end."

WERDER.DE: Is Spain your favourite?
Alejandro Galvez: "My dream final would be Spain versus Germany, if it works out. But then I would also be for Spain (laughs)."
