Werder's winter acquisition Levin Öztunali only just arrived in Bremen and he will already leave on a long trip on Tuesday. He and his new teammates will prepare for the second half of the season with a training camp in Belek, Turkey. Öztunali hasn't really seen much of Bremen between his arrival Sunday night, the lactate test and interviews.
WERDER.DE: You're first day with Werder is over. How did it go?
Levin Öztunali: "It was very pleasant. I only arrived in Bremen yesterday evening and was really accepted well today by everybody. We already have our first session, the lactate test, behind us. I am anxious to see how things will be starting tomorrow in the training camp."
WERDER.DE: You won the U19 European Championship last summer with Davie Selke. Did he help you a little bit today?
Öztunali: "For sure. It's always nicer when you know one or two people. I know Davie pretty well. We spent a lot of time together in the summer, especially at the European Championship. He really gave me a warm welcome today and kind of took me under his wings (laughs)."
WERDER.DE: In the summer before that you still played in the U19s for SV Hamburg, the biggest northern rivals to SV Werder. Could you have imagined back then playing for Werder one day?
Öztunali: "Football is a fast-moving business. I am happy to be here now and taking the next step."
WERDER.DE: What are your goals for the next one and a half years with Werder?
Öztunali: "Of course, personally I want to collect match experience, play a good second half and help the team. The goal for the club clearly is to avoid relegation. We want to do that as a team and I will give my best for that."
WERDER.DE: Tomorrow it's off to the training camp in Belek. How do you want to use it?
Öztunali: "First of all, I want to join the team, get to know everyone better and work my way into the team. The training camp is a perfect set-up for that. And then I just want to play football."
