The transfer has finally been completed. On Thursday, Aleksandar Ignjovski signed a deal with Werder Bremen and in the afternoon, the 20 year old trained with his new team mates. Following the signing of his contract, the defensive all-rounder spoke with WERDER.DE....
Hello Aleksandar, welcome to Bremen. Your move is finally a done deal. How does it feel to be walking around the Weser-Stadium as a Werder Bremen player?
"I'm delighted and it is a wonderful feeling. Werder is a club steeped in history, a fantastic club, and the move is a big step in my career. I have Klaus Allofs and Thomas Schaaf to thank for the fact that it all worked out."
Can you tell us what encouraged you to move to Werder? According to the media, you made your decision very early on.
"As I said, Werder is a top club. A move here was the very top priority for me. Other clubs were only distant second for me. I really wanted to be here!"
Now it has all been done and dusted, and just minutes after you were officially presented as a Werder player you trained with your new team mates for the first time - and quickly had a new nickname too...
"True, I was able to train with the lads this afternoon. It was a wonderful feeling to be out on the pitch and I am very proud to be a part of this team. I was given the nickname 'Iggy' by the players and the trainer because there is already an Aleks in the team."
