A pass, a foul, a penalty. When Nils Petersen was fouled in the box in front of the East Curve shortly before the end of the test match against Chelsea, another Werder player showed off a bit of brilliance -namely Izet Hajrovic. The Bosnian international sent a classy pass with the outside of his foot to Petersen to set up Werder's third goal of the afternoon. Hajrovic has worn the Green-Whites kit for three weeks and has slowly but surely made himself at home along the Weser.

WERDER.DE met up with the 23-year-old at Weser Stadium for a chat. In the first part of the interview, Hajrovic talks about his personal goals, painful muscle aches and his strength - the set piece.

WERDER.DE: You signed your contract with Werder four weeks ago. What kind of impression have you been able to put together since then?
Izet Hajrovic: "The last couple of weeks I have really integrated myself very well into the team. My teammates and the coaching staff have really welcomed me and made it easy. The fans at Weser Stadium have also welcomed me with open arms. I was happy about that. Regarding game rhythm and physical conditioning, it's getting bette week by week for me and the entire team. I think that we will all be pretty fit by the start of the Bundesliga (laughs)."

WERDER.DE: The team has trained very hard during the preparations. What impression do you have of training? Have you been surprised by the intensity of the sessions?
Hajrovic: "I knew beforehand that teams always train hard in the Bundesliga. So I wasn't surprised by the amount and style of training. Still, at the beginning, it was very strenuous for me. I had some pretty painful muscle aches since the other players had started earlier than me and were further along. That's part of preparations. I think I am getting better week by week."

WERDER.DE: So far the team has had many good showings, not losing until against Hannover on Wednesday. How do you see the team at the moment?
Hajrovic: "I think we are a good path. We have a great mix of young and older players, real leadership players. It's very important that you have both in the team. Our team spirit is our biggest plus."

WERDER.DE: What are your personal goals with Werder? What do you believe is possible this season?
Hajrovic: "My top goal is to continue to get integrated into the team. Of course I would like to play as many matches as possible - after all, I am still a young player at 23 years. As a team, the goal is to finish better on the table than last season."

WERDER.DE: In the previous test matches, it's clear to see that when you are on the pitch that you take over all set pieces.
Hajrovic: "I think the coaching staff knows what my strengths are. Robin Dutt told me that I should take the corners and free kicks. I am very happy that I can take this role. It's a good sign for me that I have trust."
