Werder's Austrian trio suffered a 2-1 defeat in their test match against Wales with Marko Arnautovic and Sebastian Prödl starting and playing the whole match and Zlatko Junuzovic getting subbed in after 62 minutes. Despite the defeat, Arnautovic did assist on Marko Janko's goal.
Kevin De Bruyne, on the other hand, was successful with Belgium in playing 90 minutes for Marc Wilmots' team in a 2-1 victory over Slovakia. Mehmet Ekici and Turkey meanwhile lost at home in Manisa 2-0 against Theo Gebre Selassie and the Czech Republic. Ekici did not play while Gebre Selassie played the whole match.
Werder's all-arounder Aleksandar Ignjovski also did not play in Serbia's 3-1 win over Cyprus while Sokratis was on the pitch the full 90 minutes in Greece's 0-0 draw against Switzerland.
All four of Werder's talents with the German U20 national team played in the 2-0 victory over Italy with Florian Hartherz playing the full match. Johannes Wurtz and Özkan Yildirim swapped after one half and Tom Trybull was also subbed in at the break.
On Tuesday, Werder's new acquisition Mateo Pavlovic played through in the Croatian U23 team's 3-2 defeat against the Netherlands in Pula while Richard Strebinger did not appear in the Austrian U21's 3-1 win over Malta.
