Two Werder players appeared in test matches ahead of the Euro 2012 on Wednesday and Thursday. Markus Rosenberg helped Sweden to a 3-2 victory over Iceland at Gamla Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg. Head coach Erik Hamrén called ‘Rosi' into the Swedish team's squad just days before meeting up but allowed him to start in the Tre Kronor's first test match.

Rosenberg, however, could not deliver a goal as Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2nd), Ola Toivonen (14th) and Christian Wilhelmsson (77th) scored for the Swedes. Tobias Hysen took over in the second half for Rosenberg. The striker will have another chance for a goal next Tuesday (5 June 2012) in the test against Serbia.

Sokratis also started in the Greek national team's test against Armenia, playing rightback in the 1-0 victory at Grenzland Stadium in Kufstein. The Werder defender played one hour and was replaced after 60 minutes by Makos. The only goal was scored by Schalke centre back Kyriakos Papadopoulos (23rd). It was Greece's last test match before they play the opening match of the European Championship against co-hosts Poland on Friday (8 June 2012).

Tim Wiese did not play in Germany's 2-0 victory over Israel as Manuel Neuer kept a clean sheet over 90 minutes. Francois Affolter and Aleksandar Ignjovski are not going to play at the Euro 2012 but are with their respective national teams.

Affolter's Swiss played Wednesday night against Romania though the defender did not play in their 1-0 loss against the Romanians. "Iggy" also did not play in Serbia's 2-0 loss in a test match against France. Austrians Sebastian Prödl, Marko Arnautovic and Zlatko Junuzovic will play Friday evening against Euro 2012 co-hosts. Sebastian Boenisch could play his third test for Poland as the co-hosts face Andorra.
