Werder defender Sokratis suffered a torn muscle fibre in the adductors of his right thigh in the Bindesliga match at Nuremberg. The Greek international was hurt in the first minute of the game Saturday afternoon and had to be subbed out immediately.
On Sunday he travelled with the team to the team's quarters for their friendly game at TSV Frankonia Höpfingen, where he already underwent his first medical treatment. Afterwards he flew back to Bremen with his teammates.
Directly upon his arrival in Bremen Sunday afternoon, Sokratis' rehab program continued with Werder's medical staff. "I will not be able to train with the team in the coming days. Maybe it's good for me that our next game is Sunday against Hertha Berlin. But everything has to work out for that," said the Greek player, who is questionable for the weekend. Team doctor Götz Dimanski said there is reason for hope. "The injury is not that serious. We will treat him around the clock and get him back to shape as soon as possible to go ahead with his teammates," said Dimanski after Sunday evening's treatment.
