Goalkeeper Tim Wiese is going to remain a Green-White. On Friday afternoon, the 25 year old extended his contract with the club until 2012. Werder Bremen and their keeper made the announcement after Friday’s training session: “We were able to agree terms on the contract as we were never so far from one another’s expectations. I discussed the whole situation again with my girlfriend and we both came to the conclusion that Werder is the best club for me. I really enjoy playing here and hope that I can enjoy a number of successes here.”
Those in charge at Werder see the contract extension as a very positive move. General manager Klaus Allofs remarked: “It is wonderful that we have been able to agree on terms so quickly. Tim is one of the best goalkeepers in Germany.” Trainer Thomas Schaaf is hopeful of a positive sporting development with the goalkeeper: “Tim Wiese has continually improved himself since being here and we can now look forward to continuing our work together.”
Tim Wiese moved to Werder Bremen from 1. FC Kaiserslautern in summer 2005. Since moving to Bremen, Wiese has made 54 Bundesliga appearances for the club as well as gathering experience in several Champions League games. In total the keeper has 119 top flight games to his name.
