Werder Bremen trainer Thomas Schaaf had a very eager troop of players waiting to begin training on Wednesday morning. The reason is the slowly, but surely, declining personnel problem at the club. Tim Borowski, Frank Baumann and goalkeeper Tim Wiese all returned to full team training this morning and they were joined by Ivan Klasnic, Nico Pellatz, Robbert te Loeke, Kevin Schindler, Boubacar Sanogo, John Jairo Mosquera and Carlos Alberto.
Baumann had announced him impending return on Tuesday but the comeback from Tim Borowski was more of a surprise: “I have no problems anymore”, explained the midfield man after the session and continued: “It was clear for all to see that things went well, wasn’t it?” The German international is looking forward to a possible return to the pitch against Hertha BSC Berlin: “So long as all continues to go well, I will get the green light for Saturday.” Thomas Schaaf withheld his prognosis: “We are just thinking from day to day at the moment. We’ll see how things are tomorrow and decide more then.”
Christian Vander should be back out on the pitch too by Saturday. On Monday the goalkeeper took a whack to the foot and injured a tendon. Vander commented: “It’s not all that bad really. Tomorrow I can train again as normal.”
