Werder Bremen will have to make do without the services of Tim Borowski for the foreseeable future. “Just as we feared, Tim Borowski will be out of action for a couple of weeks”, announced trainer Thomas Schaaf. ‘Boro’ complained of suffering from knee pain after Werder’s 2:2 draw in Bochum: “During the first half I fell awkwardly on my knee in a challenge. I was able to continue but I did notice something wasn’t right in particular situations”, explained the 27 year old who nstead of travelling home with the rest of the squad in the team bus, travelled to Bremen with team doctor, Dr. Götz Dimanski for an immediate analysis. The examination revealed damage to an outer knee ligament.
On the positive side, Carlos Alberto was back in training again with the team on Sunday morning. The Brazilian was able to return to training having recovered from an abdominal injury: “I fell well again now but I will have to see how things develop from day today. I don’t want to take the risk of making it worse so I will take it easy for the time being”, remarked Alberto.
Further good news for the coach was the return of Frank Baumann (ankle), Pierre Wome (groin operation) and Dusko Tosic (thigh) to training albeit just with some light jogging initially and not with the rest of the team.
