Werder are ready to get their season going. Following the positive signs set by the team in their friendly against FC Everton on Tuesday night, general manager Klaus Allofs was delighted to announce on Wednesday morning that the mandatory playing authorisation for Carlos Alberto has finally come through. Alberto’s former club Corinthians Sao Paulo and Werder Bremen tied up all loose ends at the end of last week and now the Brazilian football federation have given the go-ahead for the midfielder to ply his trade in Green-White.

“This of course means that we could include Carlos Alberto in the side for Saturday’s cup tie with Eintracht Braunschweig”, explained Allofs. Now the Brazilian is cleared to play in the Bundsliga and all other competitions.
