The 19 year old was forced to pull out of the German Under 19 squad, which is currently in Bad Reichenhall, to being therapy in Switzerland. “I had some slight problems by the end of the trainings camp on Norderney. I thought it would be alright but I shouldn’t take any risks. It’s a pity, I would have liked to play in the European Championships. I hope to be fir again in a week”, said Schindler.

Aside from Schindler, the injured Torsten Frings (knee problem), Petri Pasanen (Achilles injury), Christian Schulz (back problem) and Markus Rosenberg (bruised foot) have all joined their colleagues in Switzerland. The rest of the squad which has gathered in Bad Ragaz is as follows: Wome, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Rosenberg, Andreasen, Wiese, Jensen, Almeida, Borowski, Niemeyer, Schulz, Mertesacker, Pellatz, Vander, Bischoff, Löning, Hessel, Stallbaum, Peitz, Granskov-Hansen.

Both Norman Theuerkauf (sitting final exams) and Aaron Hunt (tooth operation) are expected to join the squad on Friday.
