Werder’s press director Tino Polster has once again opted to present us with an intrusive look into the world of Werder Bremen. During the clubs training camp on Norderney, Polster will keep a diary of the events on the island and present them on www.werder.de. The latest Green-White news, detailed information and fun anecdotes surrounding Thomas Schaaf and his men will appear daily.

They’re all gunning for a game – and tomorrow they will finally get they’re chance. The East Frisian fifth division side TuS Pewsum will travel over to present Werder with their first opponents in pre-season preparations – as they did last season. This afternoon though, the players got to try on the new kit for the first time. There were action photo’s to be snapped for the new autograph cards.
Werder’s photographer Carsten Heidmann and our advertising agency boss Peter Arndt are both here with us at the moment, and have plenty to keep them busy as new motives are needed for the merchandise catalogue. This trainings camp will not only lay the groundwork for the physical condition of the players but will also present a basis for the visual appearance of Werder Bremen.
Ideally, Thomas Schaaf and his team had put together a programme of trainings exercises with a number of different stations followed by some shooting practice – with no need for posed pictures. The new kit leant a very fresh look to the scene and the players themselves were all at ease in the new kit.
Again and the again the question arose as to whether or not Carlos Alberto would soon be pulling on the new Werder kit too but Klaus Allofs is playing his cards close to his chest and not allowing for any detailed information being released. There has already been too much information leaked surrounding this particular transfer. The general manager has called for patience until some more solid facts can be announced.
Solid facts are at hand as far as Leon Andreasen is concerned. The Dane is on Werder’s books and despite heightened interest from a number of clubs, he is staying in Green-White. Werder need a strong squad and Leon is an important part of that. He dynamic Dane was on hand today to answer questions from the press. Up until now, the midfield man has not been gagged by the sporting bosses nor has he, as reported by the media, skipped interview appointments. Leon had no arrangements made to hold any interviews and following the tough training programme, was not up to the task.
Leon is just waiting now to take the opportunity to prove his worth in Bremen. The fans, and journalists, are as eager to see that as they are to see a new striker. Again, Klaus Allofs is keeping tight lipped on this issue. He is thinking about Markus Rosenberg here. When the managers attempts to snag John Carew in winter failed, many considered the signing of Rosenberg to be little more than an emergency solution – which we all know is not the case. To avoid such an event reoccurring, there will be no names mentioned. Aside from one. The French press have been linking Milan Baros with a possible move to Werder but Allofs was quick to remark that Baros is an interesting candidate – one of many.
