Midfielder Kevin Artmann signed a three year contract with Werder Bremen on Tuesday morning. Four days prior to his 21st birthday, the German youth international, who joined Bremen from Schwarz-Weiß Oldenburg as a youth player, signed a contract to keep him at the club until 30.06.2010. “Following Kevin Schindler, we are placing our trust in another young player from the region. He has made a very distinct development, especially in the last year and we hope to see that continue”, explained team manager Klaus Allofs following the capturing of the youngsters signature.

Trainer Thomas Schaaf has great expectations from their cooperation: “He is a creative, midfield player who is tecnically capable and can always create something for his team. Although he was set back by injury in the last year he has proven his talent and played a good season with the reserves.”

A satisfied Kevin Artmann left Klaus Allofs office and commented: “Having signed I feel really good. It shows me that the club have faith in me and that my performances in the reserves have been acknowledged”, said the one time Werder boarding school tennant. With eleven goals to his name, he is the Under 23 sides best scorer. Now, bursting with energy, he hopes to fulfil his dreams: “This contract is not a gift in my eyes but rather a challenge for me to improve further. I hope to make a successful finish in the regional league and score a few more goals by way of recommending myself for the first team.It has always been my goal to play for Werder at the Weser Stadium.”

Kevin Artmann was born in Duderstadt and made the move to Werder Bremen as an eight year old. Aside from a brief sojurn to Bayern Munich as a 15 year old, due to family reasons, the youngster has been ever faithful to the Green-Whites. Since his return to the Weser in 2001 he has battled his way through the complete youth programme, winning the north German championship with the Under 17's in 2002 before being invited to join the German youth selection. Kevin Artmann has been a vital element in the Werder reserves over the last two seasons. This season he has played 28 from 29 games for the team and with eleven goals leads the scorer list.
