Following Saturday’s 0:0 draw with Energie Cottbus, Thomas Schaaf’s men got back into training on Monday afternoon in preparation for the UEFA Cup / Bundesliga week ahead. Prior to the Green-Whites up-coming games away in Alkmaar and at home against Nuremberg, there was positive news for the club. After long lay-offs through injury, Tim Borowski (groin operation and knee problem) and Frank Baumann (achilles operation) both returned to full team training this afternoon: “It went really well. I have no problems and hope it stays that way”, explained the recuperated team captain.

There was no denying Tim Borowski’s joy at returning to work with his colleagues either. The 27 year old midfield man commented: “It was quite alright, which I’m very happy about after such a long time. I’ve got to praise and credit our medical team for that.” ‘Boro’ was as yet unwilling to make any wild guesses as to when we’ll see him back in the squad though: “I am not in any pain at all at the moment but the next few days will show just how stable everything really is. We don’t want to take any risks.”

Kevin Schindler and Daniel Jensen were also back in the fray on Monday having recovered from injury. The Danish international had complained of a groin strain after the match in Cottbus but was able to train as per usual with his team mates this afternoon. A calf problem kept Kevin Schindler out of action at the weekend but was back in the thick of things in training on Monday.

Still unable to partake were Peter Niemeyer (ankle injury) and Christian Schulz (thigh strain). The young German international was back in training on Friday but felt it was too early to declare himself fit for Saturday’s game.’Schulle’ laid off again on Monday with his trainer admitting: “It’s still not quite right with Schulle yet.”
