The Klasnic family lawyer, Dr. K.-Peter Horndasch, has released a further press release concerning the current state of health of Bundeliga player Ivan Klasnic:
"The kidney, which was transplanted into Werder Bremen's Bundesliga star Ivan Klasnic last Thursday, has regretably been rejected by his body.
The exact reasons for the rejection are currently being analysed by his doctors. The process is expected to take approximately six weeks.
The time will be used to access the personal surroundings of Ivan Klasnic with the goal of finding a suitable organ for transplantation within the next 6 - 8 weeks.
The result of the delay is that the previously envisaged regeneration period will now have to be extended. We now cannot expect Ivan Klasnic to be able to rejoin his colleagues within the next six months.
The offer of the club to make the player an unammended one year extension to his contract offers Ivan Klasnic the opportunity to take his time and regain his fitness without the pressure of time restrictions to make his convalesence more difficult.
It will be important to allow the player and his family all the support possible during the healing process. We would therefor appreciate the player himself and his family being allowed the time and space to recuperate.
We will make a further public announcement on the situation at an appropriate point in time."
