Mohamed Zidan has received the go ahead from Werder Bremen to move to FSV Mainz 05. The 25 year old Egyptian international will take a medical in Mainz on Wednesday morning before signing a contract with the Bundesliga's currently bottom club which will keep him in the 'Carnival City' until 2010. Neither club have released details of the transfer fee involved in the deal: "Zidan has amazing ability and that has been confirmed by the interest by several clubs in in signing him. Unfortunately a string of injuries have prevented him being able to impress his class on us here in Bremen over an extended period", commented general manager Klaus Allofs on the transfer and continued: "Our sporting advisors and Mohamed Zidan together concluded that a move to Mainz would be in his best interest."

Mohamed Zidan moved to the Weser from Denmark in January 2005 and scored three goals in fifteen appearances. For the 2005/2006 season he went to Mainz on loan and scored nine goals in 25 games for the club. He made one European appearance for each club, in the UEFA-Cup for Mainz and for Werder against Chelsea in September 2007 in the Champions League.
