In the third game of their pre-Bundesliga re-start preparations the Green-Whites were held to a 1:1 (0:0) draw by SV Koch Bauwelt Mattersburg. Miroslav Holenák gave the Austrian first division side the lead midway through the second half. It took Werder until two minutes from time to find their equaliser through Clemens Fritz. The most positive aspects of the tie for Werder was the return of Aaron Hunt and captain Frank Baumann, both of whom had been out of action through injury over extended periods.
