Werder Bremen have won their sixt pre-season friendly in preparation for the 2006/2007 Bundesliga start. The Green-Whites beat Turkish first division side Ankaragücü 2:0, yet again keeping a clean sheet at the back. 800 spectators in Schruns, Austria saw Werder put on an impressive performance despite the heavy demands of the current trainings camp. The Bundesliga runner up from 2005/2006 dominated the game over the complete 90 minutes, creating goal chances and never allowing the Turkish strikers a sniff of the Bremen goal.

The Bremen side were determined from the first whistle to spend as much time in possession of the ball as possible. In that vein it took just six minutes before the Green-Whites first threatened the Turkish goal. Ankaragücü keeper Orkun Usak fumbled a Diego corner but was relieved to see the follow up shot zip over the crossbar. Two minutes later Werders new Brazilian signing was causing problems in the Turkish penalty area again. His whipped free-kicked missed the head of John Jairo Mosquera by centimeters.

The Bundesliga side continued to dominate ut had nothing more to offer in front of goal until the 24th minute. Daniel Jensen skipped past his marker and passed to Clemens Fritz who crossed into the box where Orkun was just about able to parry the resulting header from Mosquera. Werders dominance was finally rewarded just before the break when the very inspired Fritz crossed again to Mosquera who headed from five meters. The Turkish keeper managed to get a hand to the header but the loose ball fell to the feet of Thiago Rockenbach da Silva who hammered home a drop-kick from eleven meters.

The Green-Whites started the second half unchanged and again picked up the tempo and forcing for into attack, thereby creating more openings. The first came right away in the 46th minute as again Mosqera got his head to a cross, this time from Christian Schulz, to test the reflexes of the Ankaragücü keeper. Two minutes later, Daniel Jensen let go with a distance drive which whistled past the left post from 25 yards. Now Werder were on a roll, Diego got his head to a Schulz cross but was also denied by the strong goalkeeper. In the same minute Ankaragücü had their first sight of the Werder goal but the onrushing Tim Wiese was able to clear ahead of the Turkish striker. Rochenbach da Silva found himself in front of goal again in the 55th minute but the Ankaragücü keeper spread himself weel to edny Werder their second.

Seven minutes later Werder then got the reward of a second goal. Christian Schulz got a toe to the end of a perfectly weighted Fritz pass and knocked the ball into the box where Leon Andreasen firstly missesd out but th forward powering Naldo could make in 2:0 from five meters out. Werder could have had a wonderful third when a one-two between Zidan and Diego left the Brazilian with only the keeper to beat but again Orkun made a fantastic stop. The keeper would have to on his guard twice more as Diego turned the defence inside out (78' and 88') but there were no further goals. The Columbian Mosquera did get away in the 90 minute but Ankaragücü's best man kept the final score respectable from a Turkish viewpoint.
