The Weser Stadium is becoming all the more green these days. Werders decision to swap their red seats for a more fitting green is well underway. On Monday work on the West Stand was completed by the company Held Großraumbestuhlungen GmbH made a start on the North Stand too: "A long awaited wish of the fans and the club is now coming true. The Weser Stadium will now be optically a real home location. The move further stabilises our identity", explained media director Tino Polster. On the far stand then words "Werder Bremen" will dominate the bottom teir.
The plan is that the different stand blocks will be completed in stages but the work will not be completed totally in time for the start of the new season. A compltetion date in Autumn is planned.
"We are undertaking a neccessary renewal of the seating and at the same time offer our fans more comfortable seating and a new Werder Feeling", said Polster who also explained that the seating and standing combination in the stadium will initially left unchanged. "A possible overhaul into a pure football stadium, which is in negotioation, could mean that there would be no further need for the standing places and for that reason it would not be financially sound to make the change before the next step is cleared", explained the media director.
