Werder Bremen have extended the still valid contract with Francis Banecki for a further year until 30.06.2006. and have also allowed the 20 year old defender to go on loan to second division traditional club Eintracht Braunschweig. Werders general manager Klaus Allofs made the announcement on Thursday: "Francis Banecki is a young player who has shown goods signs with us. His performances for the reserve side during the final stretch of the last season have made people take notice. Together we came to the conclusion that we should now make the next move and for that reason we are sure that the experience he can pick up in the second division will be very important."
Francis Banecki commented on the loan deal: "I'm looking forward to the new challenge facing me at Eintracht Braunschweig. I'm going to do all in my power to play a good roll at my new club and have a strong season. I'm convinced that I can make further clubs take notice of me from there."
Francis Banecki has been at Werder since the 2003/2004 season and has since then played 52 third division games scoring four goals. The young defender made his Bundesliga debut in the 2004/2005 season. Banecki made two appearances in Germany's top flight and also had a Champions League run-out. He played a major roll in Werder Bremen's reserve team avoiding relegation in the previous season.
