Werder representatives Tim Borowski, Miroslav Klose and Torsten Frings were all involved in Germany's 12:0 demolition of the Servette Genf's Under 19 team. The game was to prove little more than just shooting practice for the German eleven against the Under 19 side from Servette Genf. The German side put 12 goals past the Swiss selection eventually winning 12:0. Not all went according to plan though as captain Michael Ballack was forced out of the match after just 26 minutes with an ankle injury but is not expected to be in any danger of missing the World Cup.
Both Oliver Kahn and Timo Hildebrand were left out of the side in Switzerland as Jens Lehmann got in a full 90 minutes between the posts. The goals were scored by Oliver Neuville (3), Lukas Podolski (2), Robert Huth, Bernd Schneider, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Gerald Asamoah, Tim Borowski, Sebastian Kehl and Mike Hanke. Werder Bremens Torsten Frings hit the post with a second half penalty.
Before the World cup kick off against Costa Rica on June 9th, Germany have three further friendlies on the cards. On Saturday Jürgen Klinsmann's side will play Luxemburg in Freiburg, then on Tuesday in Leverkusen against Japan and finally on June 2nd in Mönchengladbach against Columbia.
