For the coming 2006/2007 season, Werder Bremen have secured the services of Pierre Wome. The Cameroon international has signed a deal to move from Inter Milan on a free transfare until 30.06.2008. The announcement was made by general manager Klaus Allofs on Wednesday morning.
Wome was born in Douala/Cameroon on 26.03.1979 and has played 67 internaional games for his country scoring five goals. Werders new man represented his country at both the 1998 and 2002 Worls Cup finals. He was an African Cup of Nationals champion with Cameroon in 2000 and 2002 also winning gold at the Sydney Olympics in 2000.
The 1,81m and 78kg defensive player made 12 appearances for Inter Milan in the Serie A last season and took part in seven Champions League ties. Wome made the move from Brescia Calcio to Inter just last season. Previously he played in Spain at Espanyol Barcelona, in England for FC Fulham and in the Italian league for FC Bologna, AS Roma, AS Lucchese Libertas and Vicenza Calcio. All-in-all the 27 year old has played 123 games in Spain, England and Italy scoring a total of seven goals.
