The German Football Federation and Dr. Rainer Koch (Poing) have issued Johan Micoud with a three match ban. That was the result of the case heard in Frankfurt by the controlling committee. The decision means the 32 year old Frenchman will miss Saturday's clash against FC Cologne, next weeks final game of the season in Hamburg and the first match of the 2006/2007 season.

Werder Bremen were somewhat bewildered by the issue: "The pictures didn't really show what had actually happened. The courts listened only to the comments from Christian Poulsen and failed to pay as much attention to Johan Micouds declaration", explained general manager Klaus Allofs.

Johan Micoud himself was also baffled my the decision: "I did nothing deliberately - there is a lot of doubt involved in the situation. I thought it was always innocent until proven guilty."

Trainer thomas Schaaf was angered by the result of the hearing: "I cannot comprehend the decision that the comments of Christian Poulsen, who was the innitiator in this incident, are more believeable than those of Johan Micoud."

The German Football Federation (DFB) had decided to follow up on an incident which occured during the 31 match day of the season and accused the Frenchman of grossly ungentlemanly conduct when he appeared to grab at the genitals of Christian Poulsen in the 30th minute of the games against Schalke 04 on 23.04.2006.

The hearing took place on Thursday evening at 5:30pm. Both players involved were allowed to place their case and the T.V pictures were scrutinised. Poulsen was called to speak for Schalke and Johan Micoud was accompanied by Klaus Allofs and Werders lawyer Dr. Burkhard Plenge.
