Werder Bremen coasted to a 4:0 win in their friendly win against SV Meppen on Tuesday night. In front of 5,000 fans at the Vivaris Arena Emsland, Nelson Valdez snatched a brace to give the Bundesliga side a comfortable 2:0 lead at half time (9'/44'). After the break Jelle van Damme (64') and Harnik (70') finished off the fourth division side.
For the first time in a competitive (albeit friendly) game since his horrific head injury, Andreas Reinke took back his place between the posts for what was to be a quiet evening. The 37 year old kept a clean sheet and found himself idle for long periods.
