Right the way through the whole final press conference prior to Werders clash with Juventus on Tuesday, 07.03.2006, Alessandro del Pierro sat with a smile across his face at the edge of the podium and enjoyed the proceedings. Repeatedly he smirked at the comments being made by his trainer and added little to the discussion. When asked as to his apparently good mood despite his team trailing from the first leg, the striker grinned and said: "I prfare to release my aggression on the pitch. Privately I'm a calmer person. You can test that tomorrow if you like." There was no doubt that the Italian sides captain is burning to get involved in tomorrows tie.

Juve trainer Fabio Capello is happy with that: "I hope the team are really bitter. The two goals against us in four minutes didn't please anyone. We conceded these goals despite being the better team in the second half." On the personnel situation before beginning his attempt to overcome the deficit the coach commented: "Kovac is definately out of our defence. He picked up an injury in the game against Sampdoria Genua. Ibrahimovic is also a question mark, he had to finish training early this morning. We'll decide later if he's fit enough to take part. Trezeguet will most likely be available again - he said this morning that he's feeling good."

Despite their personnel problems, Juve consider themselves to be capable of turning the result around: "There's no question about it, we are exactly like any other team who play in the quarter finals. We believe in our success", claimed Capello. Del Pierro comtinued: "The clash of the national teams was a taster of what's to come, you can't compare the two games really but the result would be o.k."

In case of things not working out for the Italian giants the coach remarked: "It would be a disappointment but not a disgrace. We respect Werder Bremen who are not second in the Bundesliga for nothing - if the Bundesliga is a strong competition then Werder are a top team."

It is unclear as to whether the 32,000 who have guaranteed themselves tickets for the game are of the same opinion. It will certainly be an event for the 7,500 Winter Olympics assistants who have all been invited to the game. The 2,200 Werder fans who will make their way over the Alps would be all the happier with a success.
