The Green-Whites have a hell of a task ahead when they take on Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, 18.02.2006. The Green-Whites have a hell of a task ahead when they take on Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, 18.02.2006. The Bremen side will feel confident looking at their recent record in the Ruhr Valley city, taking all three points home in a three year rhythm - the last time in 2002/2003. Although Dortmund took a 1:0 lead, goals from Angelos Charisteas and Fabian Ernst turned the tie around in Werder's favour.

On the fifth match day of the season, it was the K&K strike force, with two goals, that made the difference in a 3:2 win against the Yellow-Blacks. But with only days to go before the clash, trainer Thomas Schaaf cannot count 100% on either striker. Miroslav Klose should be ready to play again after his shoulder injury but the coach will wait until after Friday's final training session to decide as to whether the German national striker can take part. Also hanging in the balance is the involvement of Ivan Klasnic who was forced out of training on Wednesday and Thursday with a heavy cold. The coach is as yet unperturbed by the situation: "We'll have to see if he has been physically weakened by the cold but at the moment I'm still counting on him."

The possible return of Miroslav Klose could whip a fresh breeze through the squad after last weeks home defeat by 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the coach explained: "He's a player who no team would want to have to make do without his quality." The trainer has been particularly concentrating on the weaknesses from the last game in preparation for Dortmund: "We're going to make the players very aware of what happened in the Lautern match - one thing or the other just didn't work out in that game", criticised the coach.

Thomas Schaaf has made it very clear that the performance from last weekend will definately not be enough against Dortmund. "We gave away three important points and we can't afford another slip up. The situation in Dortmund has swung around, the people there identify with the young team and support them. The atmosphere in the full stadium should wake us though."

Borussia are currently in seventh place in the table with 29 points. Bert van Marwijk's team can expect Florian Kringe to return after a three weak injury break (knee ligaments). The West Phalian side are as yet unbeaten since the Christmas break (two wins, two draws) and midfield ace Tomas Rosicky sees great hope in the way the team have re-started in the Bundesliga: "We beat Bremen last year and we know we can repeat that."
