Reinke Recovering After Four Hour Operation

Andreas Reinke underwent a successful operation on Friday afternoon according to Prof. Dr. Gerd Rasp, director of the ear, nose and throat clinic at the Katharinen Hospital in Stuttgart.

Andreas Reinke underwent a successful operation on Friday afternoon according to Prof. Dr. Gerd Rasp, director of the ear, nose and throat clinic at the Katharinen Hospital in Stuttgart. "The operation was completed at 5:15pm after four hours with no unforeseen complications. A successful afternoons surgery. Andreas Reinke is doing well and we expect him to make a full recovery", said the professor, head of a three man surgical team - a neuro surgeon, a jaw specialist and himself as ENT surgeon.

 

During the operation, the 39 year old had broken bones in his face realined. Reinke will remain in Stuttgart for a few days observation before returning to Bremen. "As soon as we are happy all is setting well he can return to Bremen", added Prof. Dr. Rasp.

 

The keeper clashed with Stuttgart's Martin Stranzl as he gathered the ball in his penalty area on Wednesday night. The VfB striker lost his footing and crashed with his knee into Reinkes face causing several breaks.
