The match was an interesting and high scoring event much to the enjoyment of the supporters in the stadium. The German side were without Dede (unfit) and new signing Amoah (knee ligament damage). The Turkish giants tooka 2:0 lead into the half-time break. Firstly Tomas got in between Kehl and Degen to head Galatasary in front. Then, seven minutes later 2:0 after Kringe lost possession on the edge of his own box. Soon after the break the Turks were 3:0 up from the penalty spot. Dortmund refused to throw in the towel and Gambino shortened the deficit in the 53rd minute before Necati restored the Istanbul sides three goal lead. Within 60 seconds the yellow and blacks had pulled the scores back to 3:4. Both Dortmund goals followed the same principle, Odonkor cross, Gambino header - goal. Eleven minutes from time the Turks snatched their fifth to go through to Mondays final against local rivals Besiktas.
