What is going on?? Werder put on a nerve wrecking display against Udinese Calcio in the Champions League. The Green-Whites put on a gala performance in the first half and took a stunning 3:0 lead into the half time break. With Werders fans already celebrating a win, the players on the pitch took a six minute break and allowed their opponents to somehow pull level. The Weser Stadium stood in shock and could only be released by a Johan Micoud decider.

The Werder fans had another emotional rollercoaster ride just days after against FC Bayern Munich. Miroslav Klose put Werder in front with only seconds gone. Bayern would have the last laugh though, turning the tie to beat the visitors 3:1.

Next up was another international date, this time a friendly in Stade de France, for Klose, Owomoyela, Borowski, Frings and Co. which finished in an acceptable 0:0 draw with the ex-World and European champions. Leon Andreasens Danish Under-21 side booked their place in the European Championship with a 1:0 and 3:1 win over the Russians.

Back home Werder beat German eight division side HSC Alswede 14:0 in a friendly and remained almost as goal hungry in the league lashing Wolfsburg 6:1. Footballer of the Month Miro Klose and Tim Borowski grabbed two each with Frank Baumann and Naldo scoring the others. The Brazilian was having a good week having just become a father days before.

A blow for the Green-White in November was to be the loss of their K&K strike force. With Ivan Klasnic hospitalised for an appendix operation, Miroslav Klose suffered a broken cheek in Werders 3:1 defeat by Barcelona in the Champions League. It was time for others to take over the goal scoring rolls but just one from Nelson Valdez against Schalke wasn't enough to stop Werder losing 2:1.

Werder fans favourite song - "Lebenslang Grün-Wei" (Life long Green-White) found it's way to number 29 in the list of all time favourite stadium hits in Germany.
