The Green-Whites were creating positive headlines on the pitch in this month which began with a game that could see them regain contact with the Champions League positions. All looked lost for Werder as they trailed 2:0 in Wolfsburg. Werder determination won through and they turned the tie to win 3:2.

The problems didn't receed the following week, when personnel problems meant the introduction of school boy Aaron Hunt against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Hunt showed no nerves and made history on the day by becomming the youngest player ever to score for Werder. Werders second goal was also scored by a debutant, Mohamed Zidan who scored just eight minutes after his substitution and only days after returning to team training after his ankle injury.

The Egyptian showed his ability again one week later in Hanover and this time needed only two minutes to find the net. The tie was destined to have only one winner with Magnin and Borowski putting Werder ahead after just seven minutes.

Things didn't develop so quickly against Bochum but Werder eventually brushed their visitors 4:0 to end a wonderful February with four wins in four.

Two big changes took place in February. Willi Lemke became the successor of Dr. Franz Böhmert while the Brazilian Gustavo Nery was released and eventually made a full transfare to Corinthians Sao Paulo.
