Nelson Valdez and Paraguay were matched up with 1966 winners England, Sweden ans Trinidad and Tabago which is a dream come true for Valdez who had been hoping to meet up with European teams.
The Croatians with Jurica Vranjes and Ivan Klasnic were paired with World Champions Brazil, Australia and Japan.
Werders starts reacted to the draw
Patrick Owomoyela:
It could have been worse. You never know how it will work out before you play bur I think we've got a realistic chance of reaching our goal of progressing to the second round. The locations are all fantastic. We have the capital, the opening game in Munich and 80,000 fans in Dortmund - that'll be a real witches couldron where we can profit from the atmosphere. We'll make the next round.
Ivan Klasnic:
I'm very happy with our group. I think it will be easy and we'll reach the next round.
Miroslav Klose:
We can be satisfied with the draw. Poland are the strongest side in our group. That will be a special game for me and some of my team mates. We have a few players in our rangs who come from Poland. We had hoped for Poland and now we've got them.
The only possible disadvantage is that we haven't played against any of these teams yet. We still have time until summer though to prepare for each opponent.
Nelson Valdez:
I had been hoping for a top European team, but not two!! England was o.k. but now with Sweden in there too, that makes it a tough group. Those two are the clear favourites. I think we've got the toughest first group but I'm convinced we can proceed. We have a good chance as underdogs just as we did in 2002 and were successful.
Thomas Schaaf:
Germany have an interesting group giving them every chance of advancement. Costa Rica played very well against France recently in which they went 2:0 ahead. There is not much to be said about Poland they were quick and impressive in qualifying - that's hte team to beat.
Nelson got a tough group with Paraguay but I see Croatia's group as tougher, that's a hell of a hurdle.
Frank Baumann:
It could have been worse for Germany. The last 16 is a must, that's how confident you have to be. On the whole the groups are pretty evenly matched.
Tim Borowski:
We can live with that group. Poland are surely the best side on paper but Ecuador are no walk over. The hardest group is without a doubt Group C with Argentina, Holland , Ivory Coast and Serbia and Montenegro.
