Navina Omilade became Werders lucky charm on Sunday, presenting the Green-Whites with a home tie in the next round of the DFB-Cup. The German Womens International assisted DFB-team manager Oliver Bierhoff drawing Bremen at home against north German rivals VfL Wolfsburg. The tie will take place on the weekend of 25/26.10.2005.

The result of the draw was met widely positively in Bremen with a view to another wonderful evening of football at the Weser: "We don't have to go back very far to remember this pairing. Two years ago we had two sensational games against VfL, one of which in the cup. I instantly had those pictures before my eyes", explained trainer Thomas Schaaf who was particularly happy with his sides home advantage: "It's always nice to have a game under the floodlights at the Weser Stadium."

Captain Frank Baumann also sees the possibilities of a festival of football: "It's an attractive draw for the spectators. Wolfsburg are a strong side who, like us, look to get forward. We have to admit that there were easier opponents in the pot but the draw is ok. Important and nice is the home advantage."

German internationals Miroslav Klose and Patrick Owomoyela are also aware of the difficulty of the task ahead: "An opponent from the same league is naturally a tough draw but we will be playing at home and want to progress to the next round. It's also a good dress rehearsal for the Bundesliga game at the Weser Stadium three weeks later", commented Owomoyela. Klose added: "Wolfsburg are always dangerous and they've just signed two strong new players alongside d'Alessandro who is an exceptional talent."

Werder Bremen will only have good memories of previous cup ties with Wolfsburg, the Green-Whites with the upper hand after four cup meetings. Most recently was Werders second round 3:1 home win during the 2003/2004 and also a 1:o semi-final success in 1998/1999 - Werder eventually taking the "Pott" back to the Weser on both occasions. Whether or not VfL are a good omen remains to be seen.
