In the only World Cup qualifier with Werder Bremen interest on Wednesday evening, Finland beat Macedonia 3:0 in Skopje. Petri Pasanen played the full ninty minutes with Pekka Lagerbloom being substituted in the 79th minute. Despite their clear win, the Finns have no chance of qualifying from Group 1 where they lie in fourth place behind Holland, Czech Republic and Romania.
Croatia, with Ivan Klasnic and Jurica Vranjes in the side, drew 1:1 in Split with World Champions and Confed Cup winners Brazil. Kranjcar put the home team in front with Ricardinho drawing the Brazilians level with a perfectly placed free kick. Klasnic was substituted in the 76th minute and Vranjes was introduced in the 87th.
The late call up to the Danish squad for Daniel Jensen was followed by an equally late substitution in Denmarks 4:1 demolition of the favoured English. Jensen replaced Schalke 04 defender Christian Poulsen five minutes from time in Copenhagen.
Belgium took on European champions Greece in Brussels, the hosts winning 2:0 with goals from brothers Emile and Mbo Mpenza, against a Greek side who have failed to score now in well over ten hours of football. Jelle van Damme brilliantly set through Mbo Mpenza for Belgiums second goal.
