Werders midfield playmaker Johan micoud was unable to partake in Tuesdays team training. The Frenchman was suffering from ligament damage in his knee after a clash with Nikolce Noveski right at the beginning of Werders Sunday game in Mainz. "Joes participation against Wattenscheid in the cup is questionable", admitted trainer Thomas Schaaf. Matthias Hönerbach took over the training session with a depleted squad thanks to international duties and with Thomas Schaaf and co-trainer Wolfgang Rolff away watching internationals.

Aside from Micoud, Daniel Jensen also missed out on training having recieved a late call up to join the Danish squad which will play England in Copenhagen at 8pm in a friendly on Wednesday night. Jensens fellow countryman captained his Under 21 side which lost 1:0 to England on Tuesday.

 

Mohamed Zidan returned to Bremen early from international dutie on Monday. The 23 year old Egyptian had to have the nail from his big toe removed after it became infected. On the up-side, captain Frank Baumann returned to train for the first time with his colleagues after his thigh injury.
