Head coach Thomas Schaaf is happy with his new defensive specialist: "Naldo, with all of his abilities, is definately a valuable gain for us. He is probably the most talented defender in Brazil. He is fast, has a powerful shot and he recommended himself to us with his ability from free-kicks."
Naldo himself can hardly wait to pull on the Werder kit for the first time: "For me a dream has come true, I've always wanted to play for a top club in Europe and Werder is such a club. Here I can make people take notice of me, the eyes of the whole world are on the Bundesliga and Germany in preparation for the World Cup. I would really like to win a title with Werder and then stay here next summer to join up with the national team", said the 22 year old after signing on. On Sunday, at the "Day of the Fans", Naldo will be presented to Werders faithful.
Naldo will wear his beloved number 4 at Werder. The 1,95m long defender played most recently for Brazilian first division side Juventude where he played 70 games scoring ten goals. Having completed his first two training sessions on Friday, the lanky defender is expected to make his Werder debut against Hansa Rostock on Saturday.
