On the down side, during training on Monday, one of Werders other new boys Jelle van Damme twisted his left knee and will not take part against Meppen. "He suffered a slight ligament strain in the challenge and we'll decide from day to day if and when he should return to full team training", explained Schaaf who is hoping for the speedy recovery of the 21 year old defender. The young Belgian did manage to come through a Tueday jogging session unscathed.

Werder are expected to start against SV Meppen as follows:

Wiese - Davala, Schulz, Pasanen, Andreasen - Lagerbloom, Vranjes, Micoud, D.Jensen - Valdez, Hunt
