Werder celebrated their second 'Goal-Rush' in four days against SV Niederkassel. Following Werders 16:1 thrashing of BW Bornreihe, Thomas Schaafs side crushed SV Niederkassel 15:0 in the "BetandWin-Supermatch 2005".

As in Bornreihe, once again it was Ivan Klasnic who got the scoring started. 3,500 fans watched on as the Kreisliga team struggled to restrain their big league opponents for just six minutes "An der Mühle" on Norderney before the "Killer" Klasnic headed home an Ümit Davala cross to put Werder ahead. Two minutes later Klasnic converted a pass from Johan Micoud to make it 2:0. It wasn't long before it became clear that SV Niederkassel keeper Tobias Geiger would be their best and busiest man of the match.

Three minute hat-trick for Klasnic

But even SV's in form keeper couldn't prevent the scoreline reaching double figures before the break. Alone Klasnic was on the mark three more times before being replaced by Valdez for the second half. Even more impressively, the Croatians third, fourth and fifth goals fell within a six minute period (37', 41', 43'). The rest of the first halfs goals were notched up by Mohamed Zidan (24', 44'), Johan Micoud (16', 30') and Frank Fahrenhorst (15'). Thomas Schaaf opted for an almost completely new look side in the second half leaving only keeper Kasper Jensen, defender Florian Mohr and striker Mohamed Zidan to partake in the second half.

Werder take their foot of the gas

Werders tough training schedule appeared to take its toll on the Bundesliga side in the second half. Even so, Mohamed Zidan (53', 86'), Marco Stier (61'), Nelson Valdez (80') and Jurica Vranjes (82') were able to boost Werder to a 15:0 final score.

The defence, captained by Petri Pasanen, found themselves with little but not nothing to do. By the end SV Niederkassel were happy to have achieved their goal of not conseeding more than 20 goals for which Thomas Schaaf was full of praise: "The lads from Niederkassel fought well and gave everything". The coach had an equally good report for his own side: "It was clear to see that our players are in the middle of hard pre-season training. Despite that we scored 15 goals and presented our fans with an enjoyable game."
