"Everything can go very quickly in football," said Lennart Thy after looking back at his first Bundesliga appearance on Saturday 11 December 2010 in Werder Bremen’s road match against table leaders Borussia Dortmund. The 18-year-old experienced first-hand how quickly it can go on Friday. "When I got home from school at 2:30 p.m. I had received a text message from Thomas Wolter which said that I should be at the train station in an hour and that I was travelling with the professionals to Dortmund," admitted Thy, who was very excited about his last second nomination for the Green-Whites squad. "Actually I was supposed to play with the U19s on Saturday and therefore I didn’t expect it. That made it that much better."
And the Frenchen native did not expect at all to make his Bundesliga debut in the top match of the 16th Bundesliga game day. "It was really something special that I got a chance to play," admitted Thy, who truly went from the school bench to the Bundesliga stage. "At the beginning I was kind of nervous to play in front of such a crowd. The atmosphere was breathtaking and I was very happy that I got my first appearance in the Bundesliga there," said the attacker, who made his professional debut for the Green-Whites two weeks ago in the Champions League away match in London against Tottenham. "Those are two totally different things. The Champions League is the biggest thing in club football and it was a huge honour to be subbed in against Tottenham and an absolute sign of confidence from the coach," said Thy, who admitted the game on Saturday "was just as nice".
Thy does not yet know if he will be on Werder’s roster for the final Bundesliga match of the first half on Saturday 18 December 2919 against Kaiserslautern. "I am not putting any pressure on myself, but just taking it as it comes. If I am called upon for the roster then I will not say no," said the German junior international.
