Christmas is the time to reflect! Just before the Christmas season begins in earnest, a part of the Werder family took time to celebrate Christmas on Sunday 12 December 2010. Players and workers in the business offices came together upon invitation of the Werder management with their families in the Hudson restaurant. Those on hand looked back on the past year in celebratory ambiance and far away from the Bundesliga day-to-day affairs – with thoughts of unwrapping presents also on their mind.
The chairman of the board of directors Klaus Allofs opened the festivities with a short speech. He looked back on the "year of records", talking about the new record turnover announced at the member general assembly in November as well as the expansion of the employee pool. "Once again today I realise that the Werder family has continued to grow this year. I am happy to welcome so many guests here and I see the continual increase in workforce as an indication of the successful work of Werder Bremen in the past few years," said Allofs, looking back on an altogether satisfactory sports year. "You cannot look at the past couple weeks in which we have not gotten our desired results. Because once again this year we reached the German Cup final and we also qualified for the Champions League," said Allofs.
The subsequent meal – an extensive buffet for the guests – was well received just as Santa Claus handing out gifts to the children on hand. And the late afternoon finished with Werder wine and coffee specialities.
