In the first game at Weser Stadium, Peter Crouch demonstrated to the Bremen audience his scoring quality. The striker from Tottenham Hotspur, Werder’s next opponent in the Champions League, scored one goal in the 2-2 draw in Bremen. And the English international, who has scored 20 goals in 41 caps, would like to repeat that on Wednesday. In an interview with WERDER.DE, Crouch spoke about Werder’s strengths and the atmosphere at White Hart Lane.
Peter, what are the strengths and weaknesses of the Bremen game?
They have some very good individual players with Marko Marin especially coming to mind. We really have to watch out for him. I know that they are not really doing well in the Bundesliga at the moment but the Champions League is an entirely different competition where that doesn’t play any role. Every team wants to improve their game in the Champions League and I am certain that Werder will be on an even level with us.
Werder have a last chance to advance in the Champions League and you could secure a spot in the Round of 16. Due to this situation, does that make this match against Bremen dangerous?
Werder is forced to win the game on White Hart Lane and therefore I am certain that the game with be entertaining because that is exactly their style of playing football.
What kind of atmosphere can the Green-Whites expect at White Hart Land?
They can look forward to a fantastic atmosphere. The fans will give everything they have for us and I think the support of our fans in our own stadium is always something special. In my opinion it’s one of the best atmospheres in an arena that I have ever experienced in my career. It really gives us a push when we play in front of our fans.
How do you think Wednesday’s game will end?
I think it will be a difficult match for us – but hopefully with a positive result for Tottenham.
