Werder Bremen have a difficult task awaiting them Saturday 20 November 2010 at 3:30 p.m. when they play at Schalke. Both teams qualified last season for the UEFA Champions League but both have struggled this season. Werder are fighting to keep up with the leaders in the league while Schalke are near the bottom of the table.

"We have to expect a strong opponent who has special quality in the attack with Huntelaar, Raul, Farfan and Edu," said Werder coach Thomas Schaaf at the press conference before the game. "We have shown during the season that we can play good football. Unfortunately that has often only happened for 45 or 60 minutes. Against Schalke, we have to remain concentrated over the entire 90 minutes to be successful in the end."

The Green-Whites definitely want to collect three points against Schalke. "We see things that can work better. I believe that the team has already shown a different side in many actions. What’s important is to continue to strengthen the team. The readiness is clear to be seen," said Schaaf about the last couple days of training. "The final result remains the main thing." There are five Bundesliga matches left before the winter break so there are "five chances to make up some lost ground," said Schaaf. "I am convinced that we can attack the leaders," said manager Klaus Allofs. "We do not have to get 15 points from five matches, but to have chances in the second half, we have to play better and bring in more points."
