Hurdle sprints, pole slalom runs, tire runs: that is all in the past for Clemens Fritz. The fullback has completed his individual training session after his muscular problems and can now race after the ball. And he did so Wednesday morning, returning to team training. Including Fritz, only 15 players were available to head coach Thomas Schaaf Wednesday due to seven players on national team duty.
"I am really happy to be able to train again," said Fritz after the morning session. And the defender’s return to training means he could make a comeback in the Bundesliga on Saturday 20 November 2010 at 3:30 p.m. against Schalke. Until then though, Fritz would like to make up his missed training from the past weeks. "Of course it’s unfortunate about getting out of rhythm through an injury. But I have gone through such situations now and again," said the 29-year-old. "Now I need to get back the missing liveliness."
A comeback for Claudio Pizarro, who has sat out since last week with a right thigh muscle strain, is still too early. The Werder striker though did have a positive rehab session Wednesday morning. "It’s gone better than I thought. But we have to see about the rest," said the Peruvian, who is completing training sessions on the bicycle.
