It will be a game day decision whether Hugo Almeida will be available for Saturday’s home match against Eintracht Frankfurt as the Portuguese striker is fighting a fever and could not train on Friday. "We have to wait and see how it develops by tonight. Maybe we will decide tomorrow morning," head coach Thomas Schaaf told media members. There is a spot open for the striker, who would join the 17-man squad which includes returnees Philipp Bargfrede and Petri Pasanen for the 12th game day.
Besides the names of the club’s sponsors on the Weser Stadium ad boards, there was another banner visible at Friday’s final training. Fans at the fence near the training grounds had hung a banner with green letters on white background reading: "Zusammenreißen. Zusammenraufen. Alles für den SVW" ("Pull together. Fight together. Everything for SVW"). “We all have to pull together. Fans, players, everyone. Then the success will come back," said Werder keeper Tim Wiese after looking at the fence.
These 17 players are in the squad for the Frankfurt game: Wiese, Mielitz – Prödl, Mertesacker, Silvestre, Pasanen, Balogun – Jensen, Bargfrede, Wesley, Frings, Marin, Hunt, Husejinovic, Kroos - Arnautovic, Wagner.
